INCLINE VILLAGE, NV, February 26
Family of hit and run victim asks driver to come forward

It's been more than two weeks since 62-year-old Joseph Borgerding was struck and killed while jogging near Incline Village, and now his family is making a public plea to the community and the person who ran him over.

Borgerding was run down during an early morning jog on February 10 near the intersection of the Mount Rose Highway and Nevada 28.

Thursday morning Borgerding's family met with investigators and the local media to release an emotional public statement. Daughter Anne Marie Frykberg stated that she knows the person who ran over her father is filled with pain and remorse.

Frykberg says she believes it was an accident and says coming forward is the only way this person can help her family begin the true healing process. "We want to believe you are that kind person, that your intentions are noble and your heart is true. We want to believe that you are trying to reach out but the pain is too strong and the consequences too severe."

"I beg of you to unveil yourself, and show us you were simply a victim of circumstance and our hearts will be with you."

Troopers say they found pieces of the vehicle at the scene and believe the person responsible was driving a full-sized Chevrolet or GMC truck or SUV made between 1994 and 1998.
