Gun stores across the country and here in Reno are reporting a big increase in business, in part because of fear that president elect Barack Obama will tighten up gun laws.
But concealed and caring permit applications within Washoe County aren't mirroring that trend.
For October of this year, the Washoe County Sheriff's office reports it saw 99 permit applications, for this month alone, 139.
But compare that to last year, October of 2007, 80 applications came in. And for the entire month of November 2007, they saw 128.
It's a slight increase, but sheriff deputies simply call it a waiting game and say they can't come to a conclusion yet.
Local gun shop owners report that not only are their customers getting golder but their party affiliations are changing.
