California Man Killed in Rollover Near Ely

Updated:

The Nevada Highway Patrol says a California man died Sunday in a single-vehicle rollover on U.S. 6 just east of Ely, Nevada.

NHP Trooper George Edwards says 34-year old Jay Wooten of Fairfield, California swerved to avoid hitting an elk in his Ford Excursion.  The vehicle crossed both travel lanes and rolled over, killing Wooten.

Wooten's five passengers, including four children, were also injured and were transported to William B. Ririe Hospital for treatment.

Troopers say an investigation into the accident is ongoing.
