Home invasion victims fight back, prevent robbery

Updated:

Reno police say a resident managed to turn the tables on two men who tried to rob her husband.

It happened Monday night at an apartment complex on Holcomb Avenue.

Police say a man living there heard a noise at the door and opened it to find two men with a crowbar. They grabbed him by the throat, pushed him down on the couch and demanded his money.

The second suspect went to the back bedroom, but was surprised to find the man's wife greeted him with a gun.

Lieutenant Ron Donnelly, Reno Police Department, "They were home alone, looks like their lights were out, when they heard a noise at their front door. I wouldn't have opened the door maybe challenged them behind a locked door maybe challenge them behind a locked door...'hey what are you doing out there? I'm calling the police.'"

Both men managed to escape. Police are looking for a white man in his fifties with brown wavy hair who stands about 5'10", and weighs 160 pounds.

The second suspect is described as a white man, in his twenties. They took off in a white Subaru station wagon.
