Reno police investigating weekend accidents that left two pedestrians hospitalized

Updated:

Two people are in the hospital after being struck by cars in separate weekend crashes.

Reno police are seeking witnesses to the accidents, one of which involved a six-year-old child.

The young child was struck near the intersection of Ryland and Kirman on Sunday. The child is currently in intensive care at Washoe Medical Center.

Police say the driver in that accident and several witnesses are cooperating in the investigation. But it's a different story in the other crash.

Around 5:30 Sunday afternoon an elderly woman was struck while crossing the street at the intersection of Plumas and Glenda Streets.

Witnesses say the woman was crossing in the marked crosswalk when a black SUV struck, throwing her forty feet. Police say the driver of that vehicle fled the scene.

The woman is in intensive care at Washoe Medical Center and police need your help finding the driver.

The car is described as a black, Ford SUV with Nevada license plates 900 SFD. Officers are urging anyone who knows where this SUV is to call Secret Witness at 322-4900, or traffic investigators at 334-2141.

Police are also asking any who may have any information on the other crash to call those numbers as well.
