Tea Party Express II stops in Carson City

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- The Tea Party Express II stopped by Carson City Wednesday.

Nevada's capital is included in a 38-city national bus tour. The political rally was scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

When News 4 crews arrived at about 10:15 a.m., and approximately 100 participants were still at the gathering at Fuji Park, but organizers said several more had left because of the cold weather. The area experienced a cold snap with highs expected in the 40s, but the wind chill was expected to quite a bit colder.

The tour is taking a 19-day trip across the U.S. It ends on Nov. 12 in Orlando, Fla. The first Tea Party Express tour started in late August and ended with a Sept. 12 rally in Washington, D.C.
where protesters decried tax policies, President Barack Obama's health care plan and government spending.

Sue Kyle, of Carson Valley, organized the Carson City event. She says the rally is for conservatives.

The event was planned to feature several Republican political candidates.
