Former Republican Governor Bob List says he wouldn't be surprised if Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons changed his mind about running for re-election next year.
List appeared on Nevada Newsmakers on News 4 Monday. He said that Gibbon's popularity is "tremendously low" and his chances of winning an election are "fairly slim."
Gibbons insists that he's in the race for good despite his pending divorce and two GOP primary challengers who question the way he's handled the state budget crisis.
List says he thinks the governor could change his mind when he realizes what a difficult, painful campaign lies ahead.
A recent report by the Las Vegas Review journal showed that only 11 percent of voters surveyed would vote to re-elect Gibbons.
