4th of July fireworks, events planned across the Sierra
No matter where you're planning to celebrate America's independence, there are plenty of events planned for this 4th of July and the extended holiday weekend.


Carson City

Mills Park
Three days of fun are planned for the Mills Park. You'll find carnival rides and games, a bunji jump, arts and crafts and food from July 2-5. Fireworks will start at 9:15p.m. on July 4. For more information call 775-687-4680.

Gold Dust West
Gold Dust West hosts a salute to Journey free outdoor concert. Gates open at 5:30. The concert begins at 7. Click here for more information.

Carson Valley

Gardnerville
The Red, White and Blue Celebration is coming to Gardnerville's Heritage Park at 2p.m. on July 4th. Bring your lawn chairs for a concert featuring the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra and an ice cream social. For more information call the town of Garnderville at 775-782-7134.

Genoa
The Sierra Philharmonic League is hosting its 26th annual Pops in the Park at Mormon Station State Park in Genoa on July 4. The orchestra will play patriotic music beginning at 4:15p.m. Other entertainment and a silent auction begin at 1p.m. Click here for more information.


Fallon

Fireworks will be launched from the Rattlesnake Raceway at 9:15p.m. Guests at the raceway will have a front row seat, but the display will be visible from anywhere near Rattlesnake hill.

Fernley

Fernley is planning its annual 4th of July celebration with the theme "We the People." A parade is scheduled for Main St. at 10a.m., and festivities begin with a flag raising in Out-of-Town Park at 1p.m. Activities include kids' games, a car show and live entertainment. North Lake Tahoe

Incline Village and Crystal Bay: Red White and Tahoe Blue July 2-4
Incline Village has pulled out all the stops for a three day celebration which includes concerts, a doggie dress up contest, duck race and ceremonies honoring veterans. Click here for a complete schedule of events. The festivities wrap up with a fireworks display from a barge off Incline Beach at 9:30p.m. on July 4.

Kings Beach
Kings Beach will host a fireworks display on Friday, July 3 at 9:30p.m. The show can be best seen from the Kings Beach State Recreation Area.

Tahoe City
Tahoe City hosts its 63rd annual fireworks celebration from Commons Beach on Saturday, July 4 at 9:30p.m.

Truckee
An old-fashioned July 4th holiday is planned for Truckee beginning with the Truckee Firecracker Mile fun run and walk followed by a parade at 10a.m. in downtown Truckee. Fireworks will fire off from Donner Lake. Call 530-582-7720 for details.

Reno

The Reno Aces will take on the Sacramento River Cats in front of a sold out crowd beginning at 7:05 p.m. A fireworks display visible from most of downtown Reno will follow the game.

South Lake Tahoe

The 28th annual Lights on the Lake will light up the South Shore from a barge on the lake. These fireworks have received national attention for being some of the country's best. The show will be choreographed to music on local radio stations KRLT-FM 93.9 and KOWL-AM 1490. The show can be seen around South Lake Tahoe including the following locations:
• South Lake Tahoe's two paddle wheelers, the Tahoe Queen and M.S. Dixie II, offer special
• dining/viewing packages
• The Tallac Historic Site, off Emerald Bay Road has an east-viewing perspective while nearby Baldwin Beach has picnic tables and fire pits
• Nevada Beach State Park has a sandy shoreline with barbecues and picnic tables
• Regan and El Dorado Beaches offers front-and-center seating that fills up fast
• Bijou Community Park is set back from the shoreline and has many amenities such as a skate park, disc golf course, dog park, municipal golf course and playground

Sparks

Star Spangled Sparks
The City of Sparks is offering a jammed packed line-up for this years Star Spangled Sparks. Head out to the Sparks Marian for the annual Milt Carton Boat Regatta, kite flying contest, food, drinks, arts and crafts, entertainment and a fun run. Click here for a schedule of events. Beginning at 4p.m., the fun moves to Victorian Square with a fireworks display at 9:30p.m.

Baldinis Sports Casino Great Chicken Wing Society Cook-off
The 8th Annual Great Chicken Wing Society Cook-off is happening July 3-5 at Baldinis Sports Casino in Sparks beginning each day at 11a.m. Vendors will serve more than 10,000 lbs of chicken wings. There will also be other specialty foods, crafters and entertainment. On Saturday, bring your lawn chairs for a view of the Victorian Square fireworks. Click here for more information.


Virginia City

Virginia City will stage an all day 4th of July party throughout town. The annual parade will start at noon and fireworks are scheduled for after dark. Call 775-687-4680 for more information.
