State agency shuts down beauty school

A state agency has shut down a Reno beauty store.

Nevada State Board of Cosmetology's Chief Inspector Annie Curtis said Thursday that the Deloux Beauty School was shut down because the owner did not meet certain requirements.

Curtis says owner, Don Deloux, did not have a $10,000 bond needed for student and customer protection.

Deloux will be allowed an appeal once he secures that bond.

The state is also doing an audit of all time cards in case any issues develop later.

One instructor was shocked to hear the news of the school's closure.

"I know nothing...had no information...came here to see if I can get my license...I need that. It's very important to me," said Instructor Wendy Freeman.

Last year, the Deloux school closed down on short notice and many students complained they were not able to get refunds. The school later re-opened in a new location on South Virginia Street, after several months of delays.
